Dental Crowns & Bridges

A crown is a custom cap that covers a weakened tooth completely — restoring its strength, shape, and appearance. Whether your tooth is cracked, heavily filled, worn, or has had a root canal, a well-made crown can keep it working for decades. Where a tooth is missing entirely, a bridge anchored on neighbouring teeth can close the gap.

When a crown is the right answer

  • A tooth is cracked or fractured and needs full-coverage protection.
  • An old, large filling is breaking down and little natural tooth remains.
  • A tooth has had root canal therapy and needs reinforcement.
  • A tooth is severely worn or misshapen and affects your bite or smile.
  • An implant needs its final, visible tooth.

Modern porcelain and zirconia crowns are colour-matched to your natural teeth — nobody will spot which tooth is crowned, even in your smile line.

Bridges: closing the gap

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth using crowns on the neighbouring teeth as anchors. It's fixed in place — no removing at night — and restores your chewing and appearance. During your consultation we'll compare a bridge honestly against a dental implant so you can choose what's right for your mouth and budget.

Fillings and smaller repairs

Not every damaged tooth needs a crown. We place composite (white) fillings that bond to your tooth and disappear visually, and conservative inlays and onlays when damage falls between a filling and a crown. We always recommend the least invasive restoration that will truly last.

Crowns & Bridges — your questions answered

How long does it take to get a crown?

Typically two visits: at the first we shape the tooth, take an impression, and fit a temporary crown; two to three weeks later we cement your custom crown and perfect the bite.

Does getting a crown hurt?

No — the tooth is fully numbed while it's prepared. Some sensitivity for a few days afterwards is normal and settles on its own.

Crown or filling — how do I know which I need?

It depends on how much healthy tooth remains. If a filling would make up most of the tooth, a crown is usually the longer-lasting choice. We'll show you the tooth on camera and explain both options before you decide.

Is a bridge better than an implant?

Each has its place. A bridge is faster and works well when neighbouring teeth already need crowns; an implant preserves bone and doesn't involve the other teeth. We'll walk you through both with honest pros and cons.
