Teeth Cleaning & Gum Care

Professional cleanings every six months are the single best investment you can make in your oral health. Our team of experienced registered dental hygienists removes the plaque and tartar brushing can't reach, screens for gum disease and oral cancer, and keeps your smile bright — gently.

What's included in your hygiene visit

  • Scaling — gentle removal of tartar above and below the gumline.
  • Polishing — removes surface stains and leaves teeth smooth.
  • Comprehensive exam — your dentist checks every tooth, existing restorations, and your bite.
  • Digital X-rays — low-dose imaging to catch decay between teeth, when needed.
  • Oral cancer screening — a quick, potentially life-saving check at every exam.
  • Fluoride & sealants — extra protection where it's useful, especially for kids.

Gum disease treatment

Bleeding gums are not normal — they're the earliest sign of gum disease, which affects nearly half of adults and is the leading cause of tooth loss. Caught early, it's completely reversible with professional care and good home habits.

For more advanced cases, our hygiene team provides deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) to treat the infection below the gumline. Carolina, our restorative registered dental hygienist, has particular expertise in periodontal therapy and dental implant maintenance.

A gentle experience — even if it's been a while

If you haven't seen a dentist in years, you're exactly who we built this practice for. No lectures, no judgment — just a friendly team, numbing options for sensitive mouths, and a clear plan to get you back on track.

Good to know

Teeth Cleaning — your questions answered

How often should I get my teeth cleaned?

Most patients do best with a cleaning and check-up every six months. If you have gum disease or build tartar quickly, we may recommend every three to four months until things stabilize.

Does a dental cleaning hurt?

It shouldn't. Our hygienists are known for their gentle touch, and if your gums are tender we can use topical or local numbing to keep you comfortable.

Is teeth cleaning covered by insurance or CDCP?

Almost all dental insurance plans — and the Canadian Dental Care Plan — cover preventive cleanings and exams. We bill your insurer directly so you pay only what your plan doesn't cover.

Do you clean children's teeth?

Absolutely. We're a family practice with a children's dentistry program, and we love making a child's first visits positive ones.
